Is tritium safe to wear or carry?
Yes. The beta radiation tritium emits is too weak to penetrate the glass vial — or even the outer layer of your skin. The same technology has been used in dive watches, gun sights, and emergency exit signs for decades.
How bright is it, really?
Bright enough to find instantly in total darkness and to read by up close once your eyes adjust — not bright enough to light a room. Quiet ember, not flashlight.
Can I turn it off?
No — and that's the point. The decay runs continuously regardless of temperature, water, vacuum, or how many times it's dropped.
What happens after 25 years?
The glow fades gradually; it never abruptly dies. At year 25 you'll have roughly a quarter of the original brightness — still clearly visible in the dark.
